Latest Updates from Our Project:

General update - Plague proceeding well and finalising files
over 9 years ago – Tue, Jul 05, 2016 at 06:04:54 PM

Hey everyone

Things are continuing to progress rapidly on many fronts.

Business: Kickstarter is in the process of sending us the funds from the campaign (they emailed us today). We are getting ready to send digital codes to Plague Enthusiast Backers. We are investigating options to let people make late pledges (no promises)

Gameplay: We are currently doing final playtests on the single player rules as well as the Virus evolution slide. I hope to share the single player rules soon. Backers in London keep an eye out as we might do some public game evenings in a few weeks time.

Manufacturing: We have been working on finalising our graphical files. These are currently being validated by Panda (the company who will manufacture the game) and we hope to receive digital proofs in the next few days. Once we get this - the factory will start work on a pre-production copy of the game. Molds are also being made for our custom pieces so we can approve the final design. We are also receiving a number of Dice samples so we can lock down the custom dice design. (currently - I'm quite excited by a disease dot effect dice)

Will share more news soon :)

p.s. Plague Enthusiast level backers have been sent a message which contains a link for them to vote for their favourite poster concept to be included. Make sure you vote in the next week.

630% Funded - Single Player mode unlocked!
over 9 years ago – Mon, Jun 20, 2016 at 04:14:25 AM

Do you worry about being able to play board games on your own if you were the only survivor of a deadly, global plague?

Well - now that we are 630% funded - you can stop worrying as a new stretch goal has been unlocked!

Single Player Mode has been added so the game now supports 1-5 players. As in the main game - you will be trying to infect the world in order to become the ultimate plague. However, you will be facing PlagueBot - a merciless opponent who plays automatically based on a unique ruleset.

You take your turn as normal - but when it comes to PlagueBot's turn - they will place a country card, evolve a random trait card and then they will conduct various actions based on the traits that they have available. Capable of spreading extremely fast under specific circumstances - you will need to have your wits about you in order to survive long enough to infect the world! (don't worry - there will be multiple difficulty levels)

Other news:

Some great feedback that we got from playtesters and kickstarter backers was that we should give each player a uniquely coloured evolution slide to match their player colours. You can find the current design over at BoardGameGeek - check it out and let me know what you think (pressing the recommend button will help as well!)

Finally - the last 2 stretch goals of the campaign have been revealed. The ultimate one is a custom dice that has been in great demand from backers! Currently - we are investigating getting a dice with mini skulls on it. Several people suggested biohazards - but unfortunately, this would cause confusion as biohazards are linked to the Infectivity trait - not the Lethality Trait. We will keep exploring options so bear in mind that the final design may change if needed to ensure an optimal gameplay experience. Also - share any suggestions you have in the comments!

New Disease Type detected - Virus (and general update)
over 9 years ago – Mon, Jun 20, 2016 at 02:36:43 AM

The kickstarter campaign may be over but we are still hard at work designing lots of infectious pathogens for you to enjoy :) Below is some information about the Virus expansion pack that was unlocked as a stretch goal for everyone but first - a general status update.

Status update

Kickstarter is currently collecting the payments linked to your pledges. This will take another 10 days and then we should receive the funds and be able to get the factory to start producing molds etc. We will also then send around a survey to confirm what you pledged and get your address. Plague Enthusiast backers will receive their digital codes once we receive the funds from Kickstarter (so assume 10-12 days)

Virus overview

The Virus disease type is printed on the reverse of the Bacteria evolution slides and has a number of unique abilities which change how it plays. The Bonus DNA ability is replaced by the Random Mutation ability which lets you evolve a random Trait Card at a discount. Outbreak is the same but there is also a 3rd ability - Genetic Switch which lets you switch an evolved card with another card from your hand.

You can find the full slide here at BGG - please give it a thumbs up if you like it and also share any feedback that you have on the Virus (or wording) here. Please note - the Virus is still being tested and may change.

PROJECT SUCCESSFUL - 1046% FUNDED!
over 9 years ago – Mon, Jun 20, 2016 at 02:36:39 AM

Hurrah - Plague Inc: The Board Game has successfully infected Kickstarter - we ended up being 1046% funded and raising $355,784! Next stop - infecting the world :)

Thank you so much to everyone in the community and especially the 6,590 backers who have supported the game - I can't wait to get the game over to you and hear all the stories about how you infected the world with a watery, pustule based bacteria which gives the occasional nosebleed :P

Kickstarter now take 14 days to process the payments but we are going to keep working at full speed in the mean time. Currently, we are investigating all sorts of dice options and finishing final tweaks to various graphics components. We also have an updated rule book and event card wording that we will be sharing soon.

I'm off to bed now but thanks again to everyone for your support!
