FAQ: Plague Inc: The Board Game
For the most up-to-date information about the status of our project, check our project updates on Kickstarter!

Do I need to have played the original video game to enjoy this?

There is no requirement to have played the original video game. The game has been designed to be fun regardless and you will be infecting the world with a custom built pathogen in no time! Last updated: Tue, May 10 2016 4:00 pm EDT

How is the board game different to the video game?

The board game has been designed from scratch as a board game. Unlike the video game, Plague Inc: The Board Game doesn’t rely on thousands of algorithms to simulate the spread of disease. Instead we use a number of specialised tabletop mechanics which let players behave like a Plague. It shares a lot of the same concepts as the video game (e.g. spending DNA points to evolve your disease, needing to evolve cold resistance to infect Greenland) but it also stands proudly on its own two feet. Will playing this game give me a real plague

No - not as long as you wash your hands after playing! :P Last updated: Tue, May 10 2016 10:40 am EDT

Does everything fit in the box?

Yes - we have even left enough space in for future expansion packs… ;) Last updated: Tue, May 10 2016 10:13 am EDT

Is this a co-operative game where players must try to save the world from multiple diseases?

Nope although that does sound like a cool idea as well! ;) Plague Inc: The Board Game is the complete opposite. Players are separate diseases - all competing to become the ultimate plague by wiping out humanity! Last updated: Fri, May 13 2016 8:34 am EDT

When will I receive the Digital Disease Pack?

You will get the codes from Digital Disease Pack once the campaign ends and the funds have been received from Kickstarter. The ‘Name in the Game’ part will be done later once all the responses are received Last updated: Fri, May 13 2016 8:34 am EDT

What quality of cards will be used?

We will be using 310 gsm ivory core card stock Last updated: Tue, May 17 2016 5:43 am EDT

Can the game be played by 1 player on their own

Yes - thanks to unlocking the Single Player mode Stretch Goal - it is possible to play the game even if all your friends are ill! This means the game is now for 1-4 players (or 1-5 players with the 5th player expansion) We can’t update the pledge reward text on the side of the page - but don’t worry - all versions of the game now support 1 player! BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
